Local stove installers

Newcastle is our home patch

Newcastle is where we are based and where most of our work happens, so getting to you is rarely more than a short drive. We are installers only, with no showroom to pay for, which helps keep our prices sensible. You get straight answers from the people who will actually fit your stove.

Most jobs start with a few photos of your fireplace and chimney breast. From there we arrange a survey, usually within days, and send a written quote that covers everything: the stove, the liner, the hearth, sweeping and the paperwork. Have a look at our full list of stove services or read what a typical stove installation costs before you get in touch.

Our services

Stove services in Newcastle

Everything needed for a safe, signed-off installation, from the first look up the chimney to the handover.

  • Stove supply and fit

We supply and fit wood burners and multifuel stoves sized for your room, or fit a stove you already own if it suits the space.

  • Chimney lining

Old Newcastle flues are often cracked or oversized, so we fit stainless steel flexible or rigid liners, insulated where needed.

  • Twin-wall flue systems

No chimney in your extension or new-build? A twin-wall flue can run internally or up an outside wall.

  • Hearths and register plates

We fit compliant hearths and register plates that suit the original fireplaces found in many city homes.

  • Sweeping and smoke tests

Every chimney is swept and smoke tested before we fit, so problems show up before the stove goes in.

  • Certification

We self-certify through HETAS, fit a carbon monoxide alarm and leave you with a Building Regulations certificate.

Homes in Newcastle

Victorian terraces, Tyneside flats and city chimneys

A lot of Newcastle housing dates from the late Victorian and Edwardian years. In Heaton, Sandyford and Fenham you will find long terraces and Tyneside flats, where an upstairs and downstairs flat often share one chimney stack with separate flues. In Jesmond and Gosforth the houses are larger, with tall chimneys and grand fireplaces that can take a bigger stove.

Post-war semis in Kenton and newer homes across the city often have no usable chimney at all, which is where a twin-wall flue comes in. The same mix of terraces and semis carries on over the river, and we also fit stoves for homeowners in Gateshead. Whatever the house, we check the flue route, the stack and the fireplace opening before quoting.

  • Shared stacks in Tyneside flats need careful flue identification
  • Tall Victorian chimneys often need a liner to draw well
  • Original cast iron fireplaces can sometimes be kept on show
  • Homes without a chimney can use a twin-wall flue

Parts of Newcastle are covered by smoke control orders, so we check your address with Newcastle City Council and recommend a suitable Defra-exempt or Ecodesign stove before we quote.

Local history

A short history of Newcastle

Long before the city had its name, the Romans built a fort and bridge here called Pons Aelius in the 2nd century AD, guarding a crossing of the Tyne near the line of Hadrian's Wall. In 1080 Robert Curthose, eldest son of William the Conqueror, raised a wooden 'new castle' on the same high ground. The stone keep that still stands was built for Henry II between 1172 and 1177, and the Black Gate was added in the reign of Henry III.

Coal made the town rich. From the 16th century Newcastle controlled coal shipments from the Tyne, and the saying 'taking coals to Newcastle' was already in use by 1538. In the 1830s Richard Grainger and John Dobson rebuilt the centre in elegant stone, giving the city Grey Street and the Grainger Market.

Newcastle became a city in 1882, and the Tyne Bridge, built by Dorman Long of Middlesbrough, opened in 1928. Shipbuilding, engineering and coal shaped the terraces and streets that many of our customers live in today.

Stove questions from Newcastle homeowners

A few things people in the city ask us most.

Can you fit a stove in a Tyneside flat?

Often, yes. We first confirm which flue belongs to your flat, then check its condition and whether it needs lining. Shared stacks need care, so we always survey before quoting.

Is my Newcastle home in a smoke control area?

Large parts of the city may be, so we check your exact address with Newcastle City Council. If it is covered, we recommend an exempt stove and the right fuel to burn.

Do you charge for travel within Newcastle?

No. Newcastle is our base, and there is no travel charge on standard installations anywhere in the city.

How soon can you survey my house?

Surveys are usually within days. Sending a few photos of your fireplace and chimney first helps us give you an early idea of the work.

Can I keep my original Victorian fireplace?

Sometimes. It depends on the size of the opening, the hearth and how the stove sits. We will tell you honestly at the survey what is possible.

Ready for a warmer home?

Tell us about your room and your chimney. Photos help. We will reply with a clear, fixed-price quote and no obligation.
